Overview
Dartbrook Colliery is an Underground coal mine a few kilometres from the town of Muswellbrook. After an 18-year hiatus, the mine is restarting, providing work for numbers of tradespersons, suppliers and local manufacturers.
Design and Consultation Process
With the restart there was a requirement for personal storage for admin staff working on the restart and those working underground, in the mine itself. Dartbrook reached out to Actiwork and arranged for a site visit. The site already had existing lockers from when the mine was running, so for a consistent and professional look, these needed to be matched. With the revitalization of Dartbrook Colliery, there arose a need for personal storage solutions for administrative staff and workers.
The Actiwork Process was initiated to address this requirement. This process involved a meticulous assessment of the storage needs of the employees at the mine, taking into consideration the different roles and responsibilities within the organisation. The primary goal of the project was to efficiently and promptly supply additional high-quality clothes lockers for both the underground and administrative employees of the company. These lockers needed to be durable, complement the existing lockers, and improve the overall support for the key staff members.
To achieve these objectives, a thorough assessment of the current locker situation was conducted. This involved evaluating the materials, dimensions, and design of the existing lockers to ensure the new ones would be a perfect match. Additionally, collaboration with key stakeholders and employees was essential to gather feedback and preferences to enhance the overall design and functionality of the new lockers. Examples of these take-aways are, additions of external towel hooks, traffolyte number labels, stainless locking mechanisms and the addition of aluminium bench seating.
Once the requirements were clearly defined, a detailed plan was developed to procure, install, and integrate the new lockers seamlessly into the workplace. Quality control measures were put in place to guarantee that the lockers met the company’s standards Actiwork worked closely with the management team at Dartbrook Colliery to gain a deep understanding of their unique requirements and challenges. This collaboration involved a series of consultations and site visits to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the workspace.
After thorough consultations and assessments, a tailored locker design was developed by Actiwork for Dartbrook Colliery. This design was specifically crafted to optimise space utilisation, providing the necessary storage space while contributing to a safe, organised, and clean workspace environment.
The implementation of the Actiwork Design Process at Dartbrook Colliery is a testament to the commitment of the mine’s management to invest in the well-being and productivity of its workforce. Project Delivery
Actiwork manufactured and installed 120 personnel mesh bathhouse lockers, custom designed to match existing, with minor improvements – Such as towel hooks. These included a quality galvanised steel construction and PC to match, along with aluminium bench seating to allow for easy changing and handling footwear.
Overall, Actiworks’ meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality resulted in a successful project that met the client’s needs while enhancing the functionality and aesthetics of the bathhouse locker room. Actiwork ensured that the lockers were built to last with durable galvanised steel, providing sturdiness and longevity.
